Our son started year 1 at Josiah this year and we cannot believe how much he has grown and flourished. At his previous school, he would escape the classroom, did not make friends and spent the majority of his day excluding himself in a sensory tent and did not participate in class activities.
Since commencing at Josiah, he has formed friendships and is learning and growing both academically and socially. We no longer have a fight or dragging feet on school mornings. Instead, he was sad on school holidays and asking to go back to school! He begins every day now with a smile on his face and a spring in his step. He now loves every minute and everything about going to school!
We are humbled and blessed to have the opportunity to send our son to such an incredible, supportive and inclusive school where he can learn to become the best possible version of himself.

We first heard of Josiah College on the local Radio Station – in an interview with Founders of Josiah College and the principals of the College particularly catering for children with Autism.
Our child was nearing high school and we were facing the daunting decision of where to send him. We felt like we would be throwing him into the deep end with most high schools having such large classes and so many students.
We enrolled our child into Josiah in Grade 6 and he is now in Grade 10 and we couldn’t be happier with our decision!
The small classes and qualified teachers have been absolutely fabulous and our child has progressed so well since starting at Josiah College – not only academically but socially as well.
In the past 2 years, Josiah’s implementation of a Mentoring Program with the students at Emmanuel College has enhanced our child’s social skills enormously and has been such an enjoyable program for our child.
We are so glad that Josiah College has been approved to continue to Grade 12 – we are so excited.

Before joining Josiah College five months ago, our son struggled to leave the house. The outside world was a very fearful place, and he was out of school for 9 months as it was too overwhelming. Now, he is to be found in his Josiah uniform even on weekend days, as they are his favourite clothes. Our son has finally found a safe space to thrive. Our son is twice exceptional but struggled academically in mainstream settings. With the support of the wonderful staff at Josiah, he has gone from school refusal, adamant that he could not read or write, to reading us stories at night and excitedly using the library to check out chapter books. Our son is now confident in sharing his beautiful ideas and has joined the chess club on the sister campus at Emmanuel.
Our son feels respected and valued at school. His teachers have boosted his literacy in relation to his needs and he has been encouraged to be his own advocate, taking breaks as needed and using the many strategies in place in the classroom to have a successful day. His classmates have been very thoughtfully grouped and complemented each other splendidly. We are very grateful parents to have joined the Josiah College community. Thank you all!
